Away too long!

As I said in my last blog post, I’ve had a lot on my plate lately. So what have I been up to?

Why, I’ve been sick, of course!

I was pretty much out of commission all of last week and the end of the week before that with an especially nasty sinus infection, so I’ve been trying to work in between all of that. Add in my 40+ hour a week “normal” job, and I’ve been stressed, to say the least.

There’s good news in this blog post, though…

I’m healthy again! And I’m currently working on two monarch butterfly pillows I’m super excited about. I think they’re going to be really cool when they’re all done (which will be very, very soon!).

Stay tuned and cross your fingers that I can keep my health up through the holidays!

Lions and Trees and Cheap Art, Oh My!

This is going to be a photo-heavy post– get excited!

First, the reason I do this blog: my most recent fabulously fluffy creation!

This lion was super fun to put together, all the way from the pattern up to cutting the mane. I’m hoping it’s a popular one, because I know lots of little boys have jungle-themed rooms (plus I’m pretty crazy about how cute it turned out).

Now on to a little holiday festivity! I love Christmas so much– there’s just something about it that keeps me in a good mood from Thanksgiving all the way through the new year. My boyfriend and I got our tree today, and I’m just so excited there are no words. It’s a lot bigger in our apartment than it looked before we brought it in, but I still love it! Here’s how it looks now– I’ll post another picture after we decorate tomorrow!

And now, the third and final part of this extra-long post (I hope you’ve stuck around to read this!). I’ve wanted to try this out for a long time, and I think it turned out pretty well so I’m sharing! It’s a great way to put inexpensive but super cool art on your walls. First, what it looks like:

These frames are hanging on the wall in our apartment right above our couch. Here’s the trick– the entire project cost me right around $15. I got the frames, which are simple black metal front-loading frames, from Target. The contents of the frames are–wait for it– gift bags! I cut them down to fit the frames and added red raffia ribbon to pop the red in the print of the bags. Fast and cute– and easy to swap out depending on the season (or your mood!).

I’ll probably be blogging a lot in the next few weeks leading up to Christmas, because I will be a busy bee! Stop back often and keep up if you can!

Cheers (and happy holidays!),

Monkeying Around

Okay, that will be my last cheesy monkey-themed blog title for awhile, I promise!

Here’s the final product of my most recent project– a cute monkey pillow for a cute girl nicknamed Monkey!

The quality isn’t great because I had to use my cell phone, but I still think it’s pretty cute (not that I’m partial or anything!). I hope little C. loves it!

Keep checking in– there will be a lion making an appearance soon!

Monkey See, Monkey Do!

I’m in the process of making a super cute monkey pillow for a super cute little girl. It’s a new design for me, and it’s been a lot of fun making the patterns and putting everything together.

I’ll post pictures when the whole thing comes together. Stay tuned!

Okay, okay, I am fully aware that I have neglected my blogging duties.

No more!

I had such a busy October that I hardly had time to realize what month it was in the first place. I had a week of vacation, a week of house-sitting, two business trips, a birthday AND Halloween all within 31 days. Crazy, right?

Anyway, this post is largely just to let everyone know I’m still alive and kickin’. I have some really exciting projects (a monkey and a lion, to name just a couple!) and will post pictures as they come together. I can’t wait to take my blog readers along with me as I create them!

Thanks for sticking with me– I promise I won’t disappear like this anymore!

A couple new shots

Here are a couple photos that didn’t get posted yesterday– I have to keep you all interested, after all!

This was my first effort at a dinosaur. The dinos I’ve made since have been a little beefier (that’s a word, right?) and cuddlier– who doesn’t love a cuddly dinosaur?

And these little darlings were the first pillows I ever sold. They made a little girl who lives in my apartment building very happy and have been my most-requested design ever since!

I should note that all of these pillows are made out of poly-fleece for ultimate softness. They’re all hand-cut, hand-sewn and hand-stuffed by yours truly. I take a lot of pride in taking the time to make these pillows perfect.

I’ve gotten so much amazing feedback from my friends and family already, and I can’t wait to see where this all leads. It’s a little scary, a little intimidating, and very, very exciting all at the same time.

Thanks for being a part of this journey with me from the very beginning. Spread the word, and help me realize my passion while making some kids happy with some cute pillows :o)

Pictures!

Check out the photo gallery– lots of pictures of my more recent designs.

All of my pillows are hand sewn (I have a machine, I just choose not to use it) and I make all of my own patterns.

Every pillow can be monogrammed and I always love to get requests to make specific shapes. If you see one in the gallery you like or if you’d like to request something special shoot me an e-mail for pricing. You can reach me at pillowsbypaige@gmail.com.

Also, shout out to my beautiful, talented cousin Dani for many of the photos in the gallery. Check out her site— she’s so gifted!

I hope you enjoy the pictures! Leave love for your faves!
